Dear Shiny Readers
Another year has gone whizzing by as Shiny comes to the end of its fourth year. This has been a year of some big changes for us editors, and for you our loyal readers. Two of our hard-working co-editors decided to step back – Victoria for health reasons, and Simon because of pressures of work – so, though they still hold the title of ‘Editor at Large’, the day to day business is now in the hands of Annabel and Harriet. This change caused some serious thinking about presentation, and now, instead of large quarterly editions, we are publishing twice weekly, bringing you four reviews a week. We are pleased with the result, and so it appears are you.
But we couldn’t go on bringing you such a lot of great material if it wasn’t for our terrific team of reviewers. The quality of their writing is exceptionally high, and we also rely on them to suggest books for review that had passed us by. And of course we are also grateful to the publishers who continue to send us the books we request.
We’ve decided to take a break over the Christmas period, so this is our last post for 2017. But never fear, we’ll be back in mid-January with more delights to cheer and inspire you in the cold months of the New Year.
Meanwhile we wish you all a happy Christmas, with lots of bookish presents.
Annabel and Harriet
